Welcome to middle school Art! Our curriculum includes Discipline Based Art Education that encompasses Art History, Studio Work, Criticism, and Aesthetics. Our well rounded lessons are based on the Elements and Principles of Art and Design.
Supplies: 2 pencils, both wooden and mechanical, and a white, vinyl or plastic eraser. It is your responsibility to have the supplies here every day.
Grading: Projects will be graded "ONCE":
Objectives - whether you fulfilled the requirements
Neatness - presentation and control of the medium
Creativity - originality and imagination
Effort - State of completion
Often times, Creativity fits into the other 3 categories and the piece is graded ONE.
Daily Participation Points (approximately 100) : These points are earned by being prepared, on task, and following class expectations. Contrary behaviors will result in a reduction of these points.
Brandon Valley has a uniform grading policy throughout the district:

Due Date / Late Date
Due Date is the last day that we work on a project in class. Late Date is the day (usually at least 3 days after Due Date) you must have your work done and handed in, and the day that projects will be graded. The gap between the 2 dates is to accommodate those students that need extra time because they were gone, are proficient at Art, or struggle with Art. Late assignment deductions are enforced.
Absence Policy for District:
When a student is absent they are allowed the number of days absent plus one day to make up assignments. If it is a planned absence, you must make up the work prior to your absence. Please see district publication for precise policy.
Extra Credit is only accepted if your regular assignments have been completed and revised/resubmitted. Student and instructor will coordinate a research project based on an artist, their work, and their art period. 3 pages in length excluding title page and bibliography.
Class Rules -> Be Respectful of the people and materials in the Art Room
